Aug 31: Verizon customers calling New Orleans 9-1-1

New Orleans 9-1-1 Operations are up and running for all inbound emergency calls. For Verizon cusomers in Orleans Parish who call 9-1-1: If New Orleans 9-1-1 needs to call you back after your 911 call ends, the incoming call from 911 may appear as an unfamilar number, due to a phone company issue. If you call 911, answer any inbound call after you hang up.

There are no issues with reaching New Orleans 9-1-1: All callers, including Verizon customers, will reach a 9-1-1 operator as normal. The only issue is if our 9-1-1 team needs to call you back, the Caller ID may not display the usual Orleans Parish Communication DIstrict phone number.
