The event will take place on Saturday, March 25, 2023, on campus from 9am – 1pm. The campus is located at 118 City Park Avenue, New Orleans, LA, 70119. To ensure efficient processing of candidates, we ask everyone planning to attend to register. CLICK HERE TO REGISTER

This event will allow applicants to complete all the required steps in the employment process for the Emergency Communications Specialist I position in a single day. The steps are as follows:

1. Submit formal employment application
There will be a bank of laptops available for candidates to submit an application.  It is strongly recommended that candidates come with a pre-printed resume.

2. Complete pre-employment exam
This computerized exam provides a baseline assessment to evaluate if a candidate has the transferable skills needed to be a successful Emergency Communications Specialist.  The exam modules include keyboarding, data entry accuracy, call summarization, memory recall, map reading, spelling, sentence clarity and reading comprehension.  Exam results will be immediately available.

3. Interview
After successfully completing the pre-employment exam, candidates will be interviewed by a member of the OPCD leadership team.

4. Fingerprinting/Background Check
If recommended for advancement by the interviewer, candidates will immediately complete an electronic fingerprint card for processing and submission to the Louisiana State Police and the agency will review their electronic criminal history.  Unfortunately, felony convictions are an automatic disqualifier.

5. Drug Screening
Candidates that complete all the above steps will be asked to submit a urine sample for testing.

Candidates that successfully complete all of the above steps will leave with a conditional offer of employment and an opportunity to join a world-class team.
