As a New Orleans EMS Liaison Officer to OPCD, Paramedic Arkady H. Acosta monitors all incoming NOEMS CFS to provide medically informed oversight, troubleshooting, and communication of interagency matters between NOEMS and partner agencies, OPCD, NOPD, and NOFD.
Arkady has worked at NOEMS for almost 11 years now and has been a paramedic for 10. She always knew she wanted to be in health care since she was a child. With a father and brother in the NOFD and a mother who worked in healthcare, Arkady grew up hearing their stories.
“I’ve always wanted to help people. Working in EMS, I am the person who is there to help and to make a difference, when someone is having the worst day of their lives,” she says.
While being an EMS liaison, Arkady will witness and participate in the other side of helping people, before the units arrive.
