OPCD’s Employee of the Quarter – Nekia Robertson

OPCD’s Employee of the Quarter

Nekia Robertson

OPCD believes in acknowledging our staff’s successes to help them develop not only professionally, but to also recognize their own true potential. With that goal in mind, OPCD has created the Employee of the Quarter Award to honor employees who go above and beyond to #SHOWUP for the City of New Orleans. Each of our Employee of the Quarter recipients is nominated by their peers for exemplary work and dedication to helping people both on and off the OPCD campus.

We are proud to announce that the recipient of OPCD’s Employee of the Quarter Award for the 2nd Quarter of 2023 is Emergency Communication Specialist III, Nekia Robertson.

“It means a lot being recognized by who I consider to be my OPCD family, not just my peers and colleagues,” Nekia says. “It feels good knowing that my hard work & dedication is being acknowledged and does not go unnoticed.”

Nekia started with OPCD in May of 2016 as an Emergency Communication Specialist I. Since her time with OPCD, she has earned a Communication Training Officer Certification and has transitioned into the role of an Emergency Communication Specialist III, dispatching calls to both the New Orleans Police Department and the New Orleans Emergency Medical Services. Nekia has no intention of stopping there and is determined to become a New Orleans Fire Department dispatcher as well and transition into the role of an Emergency Communication Specialist IV.

Since starting at OPCD, Nekia has put forth a continued effort to grow in her technical knowledge of the job and answer her call for service to the best of her ability. “Having an impact on someone’s life and/or saving someone’s life is why I’ve chosen to be in this field,” Nekia says.

Nekia, you have been an example of what it means to #SHOWUP here at OPCD and for the residents and visitors of the City of New Orleans. We are proud of what you have accomplished so far and look forward to your continued growth and success.
