OPCD Announces the Promotion of Erika Darby

We are proud to announce the promotion of Erika Darby to Public Records Supervisor here at OPCD. Ms. Darby has worked in the Public Records Department for 6 years. She started as a Subpoena Specialist before her title changed to Public Records Specialist.

Before her time in the Public Records Department, Ms. Darby worked as an Emergency Communications Specialist here at OPCD from May to September of 2016 and before that as a Dispatcher at Orleans Levee Police Department from June of 2015 to May of 2016.

Her previous work experience has provided her with valuable industry insight that has served her in her career here in the Public Records Department. As a Supervisor, Ms. Darby will provide direct oversight of the daily operations of the department and supervision of the Public Records Specialists.

The Public Records Department is responsible for processing all record requests from the general public, public safety agencies, and the New Orleans Public Defenders Office. The Public Records Department gathers 9-1-1 and non-emergency telephone audio, dispatch audio, and incident recalls related to the call for service from the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) and recording systems and is also responsible for representing the agency in court to provide testimony as needed.

The contributions of the Public Records Department to our agency are abundant. We appreciate the consistent efforts of Ms. Darby and look forward to her leadership.
